I like the Boswell Sisters’ “If I Had a Million Dollars” and the Mills Brothers’ version of “I found a Million Dollar Baby in a five and ten cent store.”

Also, Fats Waller’s treatment of “Have a Dream on Me” is perfectly swell.

I agree with Don; Gene Wilder and Peter Boyle IN FACT own “Puttin’ on the Ritz.”

Also, Gershwin’s “I Got Plenty o’ Nuttin’” from “Porgy & Bess” is pretty good.

Kris says… This has nothing to do with money, but my all-time favorite dance scene is from 1950’s “Summer Stock”, a somewhat ill-conceived plot pairing Gene Kelly with Judy Garland. Kelly does a dance routine with newspapers in a barn that will knock your spats off.

Bing Crosby’s version of “Brother” is the master text for me. The absence of a contemporary filmed performance is negligible compared to the Depression-era feelings of hurt and betrayal he pours into the tune. Available on iTunes.

If you want a very nice rendition of “Pennies from Heaven”, try the Susie Arioli Swing Band’s version.

And you fail to mention my favorite version of “Puttin’ on the Ritz”, the performance on Mel Brooks’s “Young Frankenstein”.
