Hi

Another great parts location site is CarSpareFinder in which all you need is you car details and list of your car parts and away you go.

http://www.carsparefinder.co.uk

It works like most part location services by putting you request to over 200 breakers and the breakers contact you directly saving you ringing them all individually.

CarSpareFinder also is free and allows you to manage your car parts requests with their friendly MyAccount section

One other thing that I have done, is hire an Ace Certified mechanic on Craigslist to work on the side for you, pay him hourly (more than he gets at his job), then use his mechanic's discount at his auto parts source... you can save a bundle. I had a $1000 quote for an AC repair that ended up costing a little over $200. Win/Win for everyone!

In a similar vein, I once (due 100% to stupidity on my part) knocked the side-view mirror from my car.
The dealer said it wasn't repairable (I was really stupid that day), and that a new one would cost me $150 for the part, $50 for painting, and $50 for installation.

However, I stumbled across http://car-part.com/ .

Armed with the year, make, model, and paint code of my car (on the sticker inside the door), I selected a mirror that was a perfect match. It cost me $30 from the junkyard, plus $5 in shipping. Then the dealer just charged me the $50 for installation, and I was on my way.

Net savings: $165

Hope this helps your readers.
