Chris writes with a great question:
I am an avid reader of [your site] for a long time now! Since I will start my first full-time job in about four months, I am interested in an investing strategy, especially in retirement funds. You wrote about it before, but of course with the focus for the situation in the U.S. That is why I am looking for other personal finance blogs from Germany. Do you know any? Maybe [your readers could share if they] know similar blogs from other countries as well.
I know there are several great Australian personal finance sites. There are also a number from Canada. But how about sites based in Germany? The U.K.? Mexico? France? Other countries? What are the great personal finance blogs (and professional sites) outside the United States?

We (the UK) have http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/ which is a combination of articles on getting the most out of your money, a weekly email with news about deals and such and a forum where people can ask for advice. More geared at getting out of and staying out of debt than becoming rich I think.

Money Saving Expert (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/) is a great UK site with some good, solid financial informaiton.
There’s also This Is Money (http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/) which contains some great consumer advice and some fair comparisons. However, it is run by a number of publishing bodies, so the information may not be 100% unbaised. It’s a great starting point though.

It’s a funny thing, but I’ve been on the lookout for German money blogs for some time now too. The fact seems to be that the Germans just don’t have that much interest in money topics as for example the people in the US have. We don’t even have an expression for “personal finance”
Over here people still mainly put their money in a savings account, a savings contract for building a house or they buy life insurance - go figure.
You’ll find many finance sites, but they’re all selling something. I know of absolutely no single money-related blog in the German blogsphere…maybe it’s time to start one

If you start one I’ll read it! Being more careful with money and improving my German at the same time…what could be better (Present company excepted!)?

To add one more to the UK links: Motley Fool UK is not bad, although (like the US Fool) its focus has somewhat changed from impartial kicking-against-the-system advice to selling tipsheets and advertising. The discussion boards are still excellent and free, however.
(I owe them somewhat of a debt: the Fool was what got me interested in personal finance.)

In New Zealand there is http://www.sorted.org.nz/ which is a govt sponsored site with info about saving, budgeting and other finance topics

I was doing the same question to me. I am looking for personal finance blogs from Argentina (Thinking in non commercial sites selling “miraculous” plans and without the influence -in a dogmatic way- of people like Kiyosaki, Napoleon Hill, etc., just based in personal or communities experiences).
PS: Sorry, my english is very bad…

There’s quite a good one in german written by a journalist who works for one of Germany’s major newspapers (Die Zeit).
URL is: http://geldseligkeiten.stroisch.com/

I’d also be interested in financial advice sites (if any) for non-US citizens living in the United States. A lot of US financial advice applies to non-citizens, but they don’t deal with the possibility of retiring abroad or educating children abroad.

Please share Canadian sites if you know of any good ones!

Anybody know of any Scandinavian personal finance blogs? Most things about saving money is of course universal, but investing and earning is quite different from the US over here. I.e. higher taxes and smaller economies equals less money to invest, more incentive to use tax cuts and “tax planning” and less investment instruments available.
Then again I, as a student, can study anything I get admitted to without having to take any debt for as long as I want.

I found most of the sites out there to be US based. I’ve recently stumbled upon a few Canadian PF bloggers like myself.
Thankfully a fair amout of US info applies to us.

As (yet another) Australian fan of your blog, I cannot wait for “the best financial weblogs in the world” post!!!

savvyconsumerist.com seems to be australian

I found one german after searching for one hour. Sadly, it seems to be inactive and abandoned. There is also no email given or comments allowed, so I cannot encourage the authors to keep on going. http://konsumfreiheit.wordpress.com

In South-Africa I’ve only come across this business one. “Pete’s Weekly Business”

Any more would be helpful

I just stumbled upon all this but seriously started to change things a lot. My girlfriend has been kicking my ass for quite some time and I’m about getting things up and running.
I’m not sure yet, if I’ll start a blog on this topic, but if I did, it most probably would be German. I’ll announce it here as soon as I start.

Hi all,
inspired by all this sites, I started a site from Germany. At the moment I am still focusing on gerneral stuff, but I hope to add step by step specific German things about personal finance.

For those wanting links to Australian Personal Finance sites…
Understanding Money - Government site run by the Financial Literacy taskforce.
Clever With Cash - Personal finance resource site with articles and blog.
FIDO - Consumer site of ASIC with information on scams and need-to-know information about financial and investment products.
There are plenty more, but these are a few of the good ones.
