My three year old was regifted a cheap train set from his Great Grandmother (who is extremely well off). It would have been totally fine, however the train had some other childs name on it and the old batteries had been left in and had leaked all over. When we opened it, she told us straight faced she got it at Target last week. So make sure you check whats in the box!!!

I personally think society places too much emphasis on giving gifts in the first place. Shouldn't you be showing your appreciation for others all the time and not just when it's expected because "it's the holiday season"?

I think regifting gets a bad rap (or wrap?), and it's because people regift crap. Of course the only way to regift crap is if crap is given in the first place, but that's another story.

I've seen people who know how to regift, though, and usually they make the item part of something bigger, like the poster says: part of a basket, or whatever. Sometimes I regift things that I own more than one of. Like if I accidentally buy another book I alreayd have (not very frugal!) I'll give it as a gift. I guess that's not really regifting, but it's close.
