“London is an absolutely fantastic city, but it sure ain’t cheap. Here are my best ideas for getting more for your money.” We’re visiting London later this year. I asked Plonkee for tips and this is her reply.

I posted the transcript of this skit last summer, but Aaron H. pointed out that Consumerist has the actual video. Funny stuff.

I’ve always been an SNL fan. But I don’t remember ever seeing this skit on personal finance. It’s hysterical!
The skit is also so true. It demonstrates the absolute idiocy of the choices we make about spending money. It also shows how good financial practice is simple but not easy. If our emotions were not always trying to convince us to buy things, we would be much better off financially. Funny stuff!

To that list of travel tips I would like to add: Skip the London Eye. It is overpriced, the line is huge, and you get better views of the city from the top of a double-decker bus. The special tour buses run for visitors are a decent deal, but if you’re feeling really frugal, you can follow pretty much the same route on regular city buses by using this guy’s guide:

Thanks as always for a great post!
