Help! Do I really need a financial advisor? Can I really manage my 401K and IRA on my own or should I be sitting down with a professional. If so, please, can I have some guidance?

@ connie

I agree. Time in the bank would be nice. The way my life goes is I either work tons and make a good deal of money but have no time to do -anything- I want or I'm not working much but then don't have a lot of money to do things. I can never seem to find the balance.

When my car's heater failed a few weeks ago, my dad was able to take out the heater core, flush it, and get it working again. He let me help so I learned a lot. It's really handy to have a mechanical engineer who was once a mechanic in the family, and it certainly saves a lot of money. On the other hand, the work took a large portion of two weekends, so if you consider the value of his time, the repairs may not have been such a bargain. Will you let us know what it costs to get your heater repaired?

I sure do wish you could put time in the bank and let it earn interest! You can invest time though, and that has it's own returns.
