Might be interesting to post something about those of us who take work 'too seriously'. Much of my self-esteem is wrapped up in what an excellent employee I feel I am, both from an Organizational Psychology perspective and from a critical thinking perspective.

However, I have been unemployed for two months, and I notice myself sliding towards being depressed each day, no matter how much I try to entertain and take-care of myself with the occasional movie, book, and/or snowboarding day. I'm really getting to understand that 80's song sung by Simply Red called 'Money Too Tight to Mention'.

I've been eating at home mostly of course instead of going out, and while cooking has been fun, eating badly cooked meals has made me cranky. And lowering the heat to save on heating bills; I can wear a sweater but my knees still ache. So cold has made me cranky.

Any suggestions on how to keep my spirits up?
I know attitude and how I meet people with that attitude is going to affect chances with my next interview.

I don't notice you posting any articles "specifically" for men either, and I kinda like it that way. (Disclaimer: In the last ten years I've bought "beauty" products once and that was for my wedding.)

I have tried to teach my children the merits of hard work. It can compensate for many of our shortcomings. Good read!

I'd be more interested in reading an article that details all the beauty-related things us women buy, not just makeup. Skin lotion, face cream, skin cleanser, eye cream, hairbrushes, hair clips, hair gels and hair creams, makeup brushes, eye lash curlers, the list goes on and on. And then there's the salon, which is probably the biggest expense for a lot of women. I know it takes a big bite out of my budget, and I only go there for haircuts and the occasional facial.

Ben Stein's article was a more interesting read. A bit harsh, but true nonetheless, because too many people have a poor work ethic.

Teaching children that there is no free ride is an important part of being a parent.

It is really easy to actually want to take care of all of their potential hardships; to jump right in and fix them.

For the most part you just can't do it. Once someone is an adult it is nearly impossible to teach integrity.

I guess you and the former actor and game show host have never heard of a "successful" criminal before, as they work really hard. So the premise that hard work divides the good and the bad, or the haves and havenots is not correct. Morals and ethics (not work ethic) determine criminality (among other factors). And while hard work is a major factor for wealth, there are many others (intelligence, luck, circumstances etc).
