For the past year or so, I’ve allowed users to subscribe to comments on threads they find interesting. Based on the number of people subscribed to individual posts, GRS readers seem to find this valuable.
However, sometime over the past few months a bug has appeared in the “subscribe to comments” database. Some users report they’ve been receiving comments for random threads (or worse, all threads), not just the ones they’ve subscribed to.
One temporary solution is to unsubscribe from the original thread, and then to re-subscribe. I believe this fixes the problem. (I’ve asked several people to do this, and have heard no complaints afterward.)
However, just to be safe, I upgraded the “subscribe to comments” plugin from version 2.1.1 to version 2.1.2 tonight. I’m not convinced this will fix things. (There’s actually a possibility that it might break things.)
If you are subscribed to comments and continue to experience trouble, please let me know. I’d hate to have to remove the plugin for good, but that may be the only option.

Just FYI, I’m subscribed to one thread at the moment and only receiving updates for that thread. So it’s all good for me.
