For the past year, I’ve maintained a list of the best online high-yield savings accounts. (I just updated that article with several new banks and with current rates, by the way.)
Active participants in that thread — which now has over 550 reviews of various banks — have been asking for a place where they can exchange referral links. I’m not opposed to this, but I don’t want it to clutter up actual discussions. Based on a reader suggestion, I’ve created this new thread to facilitate the process.
ING Direct
For example, ING Direct remains a popular choice for those opening a new online savings account. It doesn’t offer the highest rates, but it has a reputation for excellent customer service. (I use ING Direct for my own savings account.)
Currently, ING Direct is offering a promotion that gives new users a $25 bonus when they’re referred by an existing member. (The person who issues the referral gets a $10 bonus.) In order for both parties to receive the bonus, the new member must open an account with $250. (If you don’t plan to open an ING account with at least $250, then please use this link instead.)
Referral swapping
I’ve been deleting referral requests and offers in other threads at Get Rich Slowly because they clutter the comments, detracting from the discussion. This page is meant to fill the void.
If you have any sort of referral link that you’d like to share with Get Rich Slowly readers, please do it here. Likewise, if you’re looking for a referral code to a particular program — and it doesn’t just have to be for banks — then please use this page to find it. I think it’s great that people want to help each other save and make money — I just want a specific place for it.

Once it gets so long, people won’t read through it any way. I have never seen such a succesful blog as the GRS as long as it is, and people keep active on it. I would doubt that would happen here, unless you like clear it from time to time. People are not going to read through 700 post to find a referral, maybe scroll through 100. After that, the site will just be people posting their stuff, but who is going to be looking at it.
And hey, it may be pandoras box, but you hold the detonator!! No one will blaim you for having to shut er down if it is to much to monitor.

This may seem unrelated as far as finances go, but I don’t view it as off-topic because this blog is all about making smart choices, financial and otherwise.
Backing up your computer data to an off-site location is a very smart thing to do in case your computer has a hardware failure or your home burns down or gets destroyed (this would destroy even your backup CDs/DVDs). Do not!!! Do not!!! sign up with Etrade. I seriously have **never** had so many problems with any business in my life! (This is not an exageration!!) I am not a stupid person, I research everything before buying or signing on the dotted line. I have only been with them since October 2007 and have been trying to move away. I have checking, savings, personal brokerage and my IRA with them. I can’t even seem to close my accounts for various reasons to do with their internal policies. They have screwed up all of these accounts at one time or another.
I am presently with Washington Mutual for banking and TD Ameritrade for brokerage and IRA functions.

Revolution Money Exchange -
A free PayPal-like site that you can send and receive money but pay absolutely no fees! If you shoot me an email I will send you an invitation, a great way to avoid paying fees when splitting bills with friends, during eBay auctions, etc.

I’m kinda pissed that Bank of America only gives me less a 1% for interest while ING offers 3%. They didn’t want to match it. At 1%, that doesn’t even keep up with the inflation rate.

I just wanted to post an official apology to those I sent an invitation to. This is my first experience trying to pass on any kind of referral code. And it is really frowned upon everywhere. So much so, that I asked questions at Askville regarding referral links and forums to try to get some information. No responses and then I came across this site and it seemed very different to me because everyone was leaving their email addresses along with their invites, so in my mind somewhere I thought it was alright to send some invites out.
