We emailed a general "how are we doing overall" question and a specific question about investing a lump sum last year. The planner who replied asked for some more details and then gave us fairly detailed advice, of course hedged with disclaimers about only knowing what we had told him etc, etc, etc. He also offered to respond to follow-up questions for up to three days after the Jump Start day and did so. So it's not a scam of self promotion for every planner who participates. @ Tim
