That's an important part of it. However, just as important - and surprisingly valuable and useful - is the networking aspect of it. Twitter really starts to fly when you build up a sizeable list of interesting people to follow and follow you, and spend time having @ conversations (I'm not such a fan of DMs). Yeah, somebody was telling me about Tweetdeck the other day. I’ll have to check it out. My biggest problem with following has been that some people tweet more often than others, drowning out the conversation. But I hear that Tweetdeck helps me categorize the people I’m following, which would let me manage more people at once.
