Join us this afternoon for the third episode of The Personal Finance Hour, a BlogTalkRadio program all about personal finance. I’ll be co-hosting the show with Jim from Bargaineering at 3pm Pacific (6pm Eastern).
During this third episode, Jim and I will be exploring balance. What is it? How do you find it? And how do you maintain it? Balance is different for different people. When you’re in debt, your financial balance is very different than when you have a solid income and a nice nest egg.
We encourage you to call with your comments or questions.
There are three ways to hear the show. You can listen through an audio feed at the show page, or you can dial the call-in number at (347) 327-9144. You can also listen through this widget:
Note that the widget always holds the archive of the most recent episode. So, right now it contains last week’s episode. This arternoon, it will contain episode number three.
Jim and I intend to do this every Monday — possibly with guests! — and we hope you’ll join us. We think this will be a fun way to connect with readers and to help everyone learn more about money management. Our second show was even better than the first, and we think we’ll continue to improve in time.
Update! Jim tells me that we’re now on iTunes! You can subscribe to The Personal Finance Hour as a weekly podcast by following this link (which will open iTunes).

How neat! And I’m impressed that you are brave enough to do something like that. I would get terrible stage(radio?) fright!

JD, you mentioned on your show that you were renting office space to help create that separation you need. One other thing that could help is having a pen and paper available in the form of a small notepad and pencil (Trent at Simple dollar is a big fan of this). That way if you have an idea, you can jot it down quickly and forget about it with minimal interuption of what you’re doing outside the office and then review it during office hours.

@getagrip
Yeah, I already do this to a degree. I think Trent uses a small notepad. I use yellow legal pads. (Well, they’re not legal-sized, but I call them legal pads, anyhow.) But you’re right: once the office is moved up the hill (about 50% there now), I can still do writing at home. It’ll just be the old-fashioned way!

I agree with Trevor, it was a lot fun. I’m so glad I won the trivia too as I have been needing to learn about my credit score. Good luck with this week’s trivia’s everybody!

At one point you asked people to call in regarding their balance with work vs. Time or any other balances. I was listening to the podcast so I couldn’t quite call in but I still want to ask. How would you suggest a school vs. work balance for college students? A little background on myself. I have enough in savings to last me through this semester and next. I’m currently taking 19 credit hours worth of classes and am majoring in accounting. I actually left a job because I felt with so many units I wouldn’t be able to focus on both adequately. Lately I’ve felt like I have too much free time and making money would fill that time void and generate income.
Any thoughts on a balance for that?

I regret that i was not able to listen the radio talk.

1) i keep forgetting that this is happening (3rd week, right?)
2) is there some OTHER way to sign up for the feed? Other then iTunes (which i hate with a buring fury of a million suns)? Like, an rss feed to your podcast, so i could listen to it via a program that works on Linux?

During this show, you mentioned a couple of blogs and I couldn’t make out the one you talked about. (Moneying?) Can you please provide the links to those blog sites? Thanks!! Enjoyed the show!

JD, “Now on iTunes” should have been the title of this post. I know you have your reasons, but free Podcast on iTunes is a BIG DEAL! I’ve been waiting for you guys to get on iTunes (translate: I was actually looking for the message) and almost missed the update. Keep them coming and good luck.
