Flights are dropping in prices at records speeds. To get the best deal do the following:
1. Check your destinations airport website to find out which airlines fly into it.
2. Go to each of the Airlines website directly and check prices and times. Third party websites are usually not cheaper.
3. For shorter stays especially check "vacation" or package deals. Often combining a hotel and airline will cost less then the airline itself. If you don't need the hotel then don't check in.
4. Roundtrip is usually cheaper then one way- again even if you don't need it.
5. Sometimes taking a flight to a small city and then onto a bigger city is cheaper then a direct flight even if it means changing airlines.
6. Flights leaving on a Tuesday or Saturday at the cheapest.
7. Last minute deals are hot right now! If you are flexible on your travel dates then this can be the best way to go.

Cheers,

You may want to inform your readers about Couchsurfing..
http://www.couchsurfing.com

This is a volunteer run site, that lets people travelling, and people looking to host travellers match up. It flips the standard 'isolation in a hotel' idea on it's head.
