Here’s a holiday video from 1950 showing Christmas celebrations around the world: in the United States, England, Holland, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Korea, Japan, Canada, Mexico.
As the spirit of Christmas unites all humanity, men and women everywhere reaffirm their faith in the brotherhood of man. The News Magazine of the Screen presents, from around the world, the spirit of PEACE ON EARTH, GOOD WILL TOWARD MEN.
Happy Christmas, everybody. Have a great weekend.

Same to you, JD, and thanks for all your service of the past year, i.e. posting pieces faithfully every day that are so helpful to people around the world. The international focus of your Christmas clip seems to symbolize the GRS theme of service to all.
I had an unusually happy experience last night that helped me see what unites us as humans. If anyone’s interested in a short, uplifting read, here it is. Merry Christmas! http://www.diamondcutlife.org/born-for-this/

JD,
Happy Holidays to you!
Unfortunately I had to work on both Christmas Eve & Christmas day. I work in Thailand and while there are trees lit up and decorated, most don’t observe Christmas as it’s a Buddhist country.
Sadder still was that I had to lay off 5 people on Christmas Day. I did it with a heavy heart, felt like Santa giving out thin envelopes instead of gifts
However it was done with respect and fairness. All the people involved took it very well actually. I was thinking how totally uncool it would be to lay people off in the US on Christmas Day!

Sentences like “As the spirit of Christmas unites all humanity” annoy me, but it’s from 1950, so to be expected I guess.
Anyway, Merry Christmas to anyone who celebrates it!

I was surprised how humble and poor the French looked! Being French myself I had stories from my grandma growing up about how difficult post war years were, even 5 years after, and I could really see it in this women’s eyes in the video. Thanks for sharing, have a lovely one.
