As long as you control (e.g., provide oversight on quality and content) your blog contributors, I think having other writers is great. No matter how great a writer or speaker is, it is impossible to maintain my interest forever. New perspectives and voices maintain interest for the long haul.

Perhaps you could write an article about upfront costs – which ones result in savings over time? Is a $2000 upgrade on your heat pump going to save you enough in electricity? Should you switch to CFLs (if not for the environment, for the longevity and electricity savings)? Switch to a tankless water heater? Double paned windows? The hybrid version of your car? The fence paint that claims it lasts 3 more years? (And, of course, paying a few hundred/thousand for a better rate on your mortgage?)

I’m also an MSN reader and I love Donna – great news that she will be here occasionally. FWIW, I also really like Sierra and Robert’s posts.

I check in on the blog once a day and read all the posts except one recurring guest author. I think it is good to have varied viewpoints and even the poster I don’t like apparently has fans so I just skip hers. Nothing is going to appeal to 100% of the people 100% of the time but your content is consistently the strongest I have seen in personal finance on the web.

While I don’t dispute the financial benefits of a college degree, they’re seeming more and more like a litmus test used by employers to keep jobs in the hands of the privileged than any real guarantee of qualification. (Receptionists are commonly required to hold a Bachelor’s. To smile and answer phones.)
