CNN – ugh, I hate that they edited out the fact that your arrangement now costs so much more in gas but whatever. I slogged through all the comments (LOL, yes from work, while doing work – most of my job involves listening for cues so I can do both) and they were so surprising! I had no idea there were people out there that would think a couple without children would have no reason to argue about money! LOL – how surprised would they be to learn that my sister and her husband argue about the same basic issue pre-kids as post-kids – she’s a saver and he’s a spender. All the other stuff is just the content of the moment, it all boils down to their differing financial personalities.

haha, not sure why I’m ever still surprised by the stuff people post through the anonymity of the internet but I’m glad you don’t take it personally.

Dude, I re-read your article in CNN– the horror, the horror. Those people are awful (not all of them, but… wow). Sorry you had to face that sort of gratuitous bile, but I hope you got paid well to make up for it.

As for the CNN comments, people like to stir the pot on anonymous forums. It’s sad because I think the article gave a very different point of view that could be helpful to some people. I think you and Kris have a great system and the discussion board on CNN isn’t worth the time it took to weed through the poorly composed comments.

@15 – Chickybeth: I couldn’t agree more about your comment on childfree (not childLESS) couples. I am in no way selfish and my decisions for or against children really shouldn’t be the topic of dinner conversations with other couples but somehow always comes up. If you have kids does that give everyone the right to ask about personal details of your fertility, financial life, and plans for old age??? It seems that there is always a theme about childfree couples being “less married” or less of a family. Good to see someone else felt the same way after reading all the venom over at the other comments section.

I also did a walk with some lion cubs (a brother and sister who were 15 months old and 200-300 lbs each!) and an elephant back safari. We got lucky and one of the pregnant elephants gave birth while we were there. We got to see a 15-minute old elephant. It was sooooo cute! It couldn’t even stand yet. Because of that we barely made it back to the Botswana border before it closed for the night. This was in 2005.

One thing that really stuck out in the comments was how much a lot of the people hate childless couples. They seem to think people without kids are living the life of luxury thinking only of themselves, but will also be destitute and alone in old age! Makes no sense.

My personal opinion is that you could have chosen a better article to post on CNN Money.
So of all the thousands of good articles you had to choose that huh?

And I think I would have gone for pool, photos, and postcards too.
