Can you feel it in the air? It’s almost time for the second annual Get Rich Slowly video contest!
Last year, to celebrate this site’s fourth anniversary, we invited readers to submit short videos sharing financial tips and success stories. We received 57 submissions, from which I picked a handful of contest winners.
2010 Video Contest Winners
As a reminder, the winner in the Success Stories category was Jessica, who had No Regrets for delaying her honeymoon until she and her husband could pay cash for it:
In the Money Tips category, Rachel’s Coupon Rap took the top prize:
And in the third (bonus) category for folks with websites, Jamison won for two videos: his success story (How I Paid Off My Mortgage in 10 Years) and his money tip (How to Make Your Own Laundry Detergent). Unfortunately, Jamison has since removed his videos, which makes me sad. They were great!
2011 Get Rich Slowly Video Contest
Well, this year, we’re going to do it again. Now that people are familiar with the format, I think more folks will be willing to enter. I hope so, because I think this contest is a lot of fun. Besides, it’s a way for you to win $500, right?
Now, the 2011 video contest hasn’t started yet. I’ll post an official announcement in a few weeks. For now, though, I just wanted to whet your appetites. I want you to start thinking about what tip or story you can share. (Share both, if you want!)
In the meantime, here are a few other great entries from last year’s contest:
Katie views saving money as a videogame
Lucas describes the power of two checking accounts
Brandon talks about how he’s riding to savings
Take care, everyone. Stay well.
