This definitely looks like a good deal, as long as the places you make calls from are within their coverage area (they are primarily in metro areas, so rural consumers might be out of luck). I know for MetroPCS, if you end up in a place that is "roaming", you could pay close to .80 a minut...

Here's a question for the personal development wonks over here. First off, I need to explain my work situation. I have a bit of an odd work schedule - it's not necessarily longer than other people's, but it is different. I start work at 10 AM, work until 5 PM. I then am off until 9 PM, when I have c...

Good points by all. Guess I will talk to a lawyer near me - see if I can get a good deal on a basic will. Probably not a good thing to skimp on, considering it can get stuck in probate for months and cost your heirs serious $$$.

Hey: First off - I only ask this question because I like to be prepared, not because I'm morbid/think I'm going to die! With that out of the way, I need to have a pretty simple will drawn up - one that divides up my meager assets, ensures my estate doesn't somehow get dragged through probate and def...

Solar hot water heaters are big in India, where the power grid is extremely unreliable. I saw a ton of them on rooftops.

Seriously, put in the money. My company gives me no match whatsoever. As it is now, I have to split the difference between my 401k and a Roth IRA.

@timwalsh300 - Good point - Haha the poll is sort of useless. Dunno how I forgot that little tidbit!

Thanks for the input!

Does anyone think the "reported" rate will get pegged lower?

I currently have $8455.17 in Stafford Loans that I'm going to be focusing on paying off ASAP now that I have 6 months of money (about $12K) in the bank. I'm paying 3.96% (with .25% auto-payment discount) on them at the moment, but it is a variable rate loan (I took out my last one just before they m...

I used TaxCut this year (have used TurboTax for a while, as I used my parents copy when I lived with them) and it was a decent program. However, I did notice that it didn't have as good of a UI as TurboTax. I plan on switching back to Intuit next year.

Either there was a massive change to the IRS tax code/rates or the IRS website is acting up. (Hint - the tax bill would be over 5 times my gross income!)

I'd say you should definitely go for it, unless you can consolidate your debt to a fixed low rate. Otherwise, I'd take a chunk out of it now. It always feels good to be debt free in my book. Unfortunately, it would appear that my loan balance is too small to consolidate ($15K is the minimum apparen...

Is your student loan interest deductible? If so, 3.96% APY isn't that bad for a loan and it's something you might want to hold off on paying down in case you have any other major purchases in mind (house). Otherwise, if you are reasonable secure with using your finances, go for it! Knocking out deb...
