I like the method that the book "Random Walk Guide to Investing" laid out. For a person like who is under 40, that means 65% in stocks (and then out of those stocks, 1/3 is international), 20% bonds, 10% real estate and 5% money market or cash. My list is pretty simple too, but I find that...

I am getting married in a few months, and boy do I wish I had seriously considered downsizing my wedding drastically, as in just my siblings, parents and close friends. We both have huge families so we thought we were doing good by not inviting all of them, but wow, that money would be so much sweet...
