Personally, I'd wait before locking money up in an IRA. At least until you get your first "real" job, I'd advise you to save your money rather than invest it. That way, it's available if the job market is worse than you expected. Once you get a regular salary, there will be plenty of time ...

With the cars: I'd bundle them ans sell them as a lot. If they don't sell after one or two rounds, they clearly DON'T have much value, and you can donate them to charity with no worries.
