Photos can come in handy for work that will be covered up if you are able to tour the ongoing construction. Pictures of all walls with the wiring and plumbing completed, but before drywall application, can be very useful if later wish to drill holes, attach objects or resolve a structural problem. I...

Today is a significant milestone for me and I'm wondering about things. We've come a long way from the caveman days but our advancements in achieving the good life seem to be cresting. Many facets of society have become faster, tenser and somewhat nastier. Is this the age of plenty or of too much, a...

The image resides on Blogger/Picasa web albums. This is on a low traffic blog though but I will name all images on all my web pages more thoughtfully from now on.

I've pretty well listed what I could think of generally. As far as the inspector and good faith goes: When I sold my house my agent hired his inspector and he did a very quick job of it. He stuck his head in the crawl space and did not go down. This is all very well for me the seller but a buyer sho...

Before occupancy your seller or builder may suggest a 'walk through' of your condo or house interior. If you are unprepared it may take 20 minutes and you will be asked to sign off your acceptance. Some costly or annoying deficiencies could turn up later. Even if you hire an inspector (recommended f...

This is a remarkable story about a German youth that went from dishwasher to owner of the United Furniture Warehouse chain. Having achieved financial success John Volken then sold the business and founded the Welcome Home Society. This is an organization that creates a free long-term residential pee...

Life should be happiness and should be simple. Life is mostly froth and bubble; Two things stand like stone: Kindness in another's trouble, Courage in our own. - Adam Gordon (1833-1870) "Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but, if you will sit down qui...

The trend to impersonal neighborhoods may have started as families came to have dual income earners and got so busy running around. Retired 10 years and living in a condo everyone knows everyone and we are a bit like family here.

My credit union has online banking, bill payment, mutual funds and stock trading. The debit card works well in Mexico through 5 providers including Interac and the Exchange. If I moved out of province tho I would need to transfer to another credit union.

Advertising yes. I no longer use a bank, my credit union is better all round. Credit unions exist solely to serve their members, not to pay high dividends to share holders. Credit union income is returned to members, offering higher deposit rates and lower rates on loans. The World Council of Credit...

Brenda you make a good presentation of how marketing and retailing should work, and how consumers should shop. The majority of retailers play fairly and I'm sure you are a good example on ethical business practice, but there are those that do not play fairly. I recall a major US computer retailer an...

You're really giving the stores too much credit for thinking they're smart enough to come up with such nefarious schemes. There are just too many scammy routines being regularly used to believe that this is accidental. Bate and switch - advertising a product or service at a low price but it is not ...

I had pretty well concluded that this occurs in most areas. What bothers me is that the methods are getting slyer and are more obviously confusing, and have become a way of our shopping experience.
