i aim for $150/mo, and this includes eating out. that came from hearing someone talking about living on $5 of food/day, and i wanted to give it a try when i graduated and moved into my first apt last summer. i have to admit that i've generally gone over by an average of $20, but that's because i ten...

Just out of curiosity, what did you do to get a discount on your phone/internet? Also, home owners insurance and auto? For phone/internet, I called my provider and told them I was trying to save some money, had looked at some of their competitor's prices, but wanted to stay with them. I then asked ...

so...it looks like i might not have my job for too much longer. and i may be taking anywhere up to a 10k paycut depending on what else i find. so this "pay off loan in 10 months" plan might evolve into a "let's make sure i have enough for rent and healthy food" plan. but i'm flex...

i've enjoyed reading through the forums and all of the stories and suggestions, and as i get ready to tackle my last/biggest student loan, thought i'd hop on the FFJ banwagon! that and i'm sure life will get more complicated financially as time goes on, so suggestions/advice on other things might pr...

arguements of where the money may or may not come from aside, it's fun to imagine scenarios like this, so here's what i'd do if i ever got slapped with 200k: my local church (and/or other organizations i support): 30K pay off my mom's house so that she doesn't have to worry about it anymore: 100K pa...

i doubt i'll get anything back, maybe even have a tax bill when all is said and done, but IF by some miracle, i have a return, i'll most likely invest in a new laptop. i've had my dell since sept03 and two blue screens of death later, it is still pluggin along, probably b/c it knows i can't afford a...

for the debt-credit ration, do they take into account the debt you have as student loans? so if i have a card i'm not currently using, and say it's like 5000 or something, i should just leave it open so that while my student loans are mostly still there, i have a bigger amount of available credit on...

i'm going to pay down the loans asap anyways, since i don't want to pay any more for school than it's already cost me. i was more curious about how long the old accounts would linger and when they would be dropped off, if it's 7 years after the closing date or what. would just like to work on raisin...

hey justin, thought i'd chime in with some advice b/c i just graduated last spring and i currently have 3 brothers in college so your dilemma is not at all unfamiliar. just like the previous posted said, 30/mo might not seem as big if you just think of it as 30 bucks, but of course that cost adds up...
