@ simplenation Two things: Would it be worth investing in a beater that will get me out a college and maybe a year or two into my career? If that breaks down, I might find myself having to fork up for another beater or another not-so-beater possibly unexpectedly (i.e. not at a time of my choosing, s...

@ Dave Diller

You reply to fast, haha.

I was thinking that too, but I don't know how the hell I would pay for it in the case where I would require a car. Unless you have another idea? I couldn't make monthly payments if I would get a car loan.

@simplenation That was my thoughts also, I would essentially get a better return just avoiding more student loan debt. At least until I can get a job where I can fully fund an IRA or equivalent. The real question though (and maybe I didn't make it quite clear) dealt with the investment account. Is i...

I have had a few things mulling in the back of my mind and thought I might get a little advice/thoughts/comments from a few like minded individuals. First of all a little background: I am 22 with two years until graduation. I will graduate with a Bachelors and Masters in Structural Engineering and a...

Jericho asked me to post a link to my spreadsheet here. I have quoted my original post below and the original thread can be found here . I started getting interested in finances back in high school. Part due to my next door neighbor (he lent me his copy of "Rich Dad, Poor Dad"), and partly...

@aardvaark

I uploaded a new file, but you are going to have to help me out. I know it doesn't work in OpenOffice (since I tested it there), but I am pretty sure it should work in earlier versions of excel. Unfortunately, I only have Excel 2007. If you would be so kind... :D

@JerichoHill Sure, I can do that. I suppose I thought the personal finance forum would be more appropriate. @myself Using a udf (user-defined function) won't work for open office since office uses Visual Basic and open office uses Basic . Which means I can get it working for office 2003 (at least I ...

Yeah, I prefer using a spreadsheet over the online options, mainly based on the type of information I can get from it. Unfortunately, in typing up my calculations, I used a lot of iferror() statements. The annoying part is this is only available in excel 2003. Apart from rewriting all of these calcu...

BRID had a few 3:2 stock splits, so if you got the original price from your grandma, I would figure out if you need to adjust the price you were told because of the splits. With a purchase date, purchase price, and quantity, you should be able to figure that out. So if you had 100 shares in '95. It ...
