I haven't posted for a while but I return from time to time to read up on others. My wife and I encountered Ramsey in late November and started our MTMM (Modified Total Money Makeover) in December. We had zero in savings (or virtually zero). As of two days ago we paid off our 08 Honda Fit. The tab o...

In regards to racing, I have heard of some running groups developing "races" like the cyclist's alleycats. Could be a fun way to develop competition, goal setting, and community in a inexpensive (free?) way.

Yes, don't cash out the CD early to pay off the student loan. I wasn't thinking that was part of the situation. 144 has a good point. The cosigned car is a wildcard. With the CD at 4.25 and the SL at 5.5 (with a bit of Tax Benefit) it really becomes six the one, half dozen the other. At that point, ...

Can you explain the 10k in retained earnings (savings)? If I am reading right, at the end you will have 10k saved, 5k is EF, and 5k in school loans.
If I were you, I would hold the 5k (a nice temporary EF) and pay off the school loan. Knock out the school loan and build back up your savings.

Yep! I put off Pgh Marathon partially due to the entry fee. Makes 5k's seem free! It really adds up when you consider that many. I do 3-6 races a summer to keep the price down.

Thanks. Funny, I was pretty sure that elkcountyonline was available two days ago and now it seems to be gone along with others. Does godaddy and other sites buy up domains that people search and do not buy? I'm still working. It seems what is left is something like: elkcnty.com elkcountysite.com elk...

Hey all... need some help. I am about to start a regional site with blog and forum for the county I live in. Problem is the county name is taken. So, lets pretend that the county is elk county Pennsylvania (although its not). elkcounty.com and elkcounty.org are both taken (and pitiful). I am thinkin...

The kicker with kicking cable is you can't watch sports on most of those sites.

My wife is a tennis nut. Grand slams is what keeps us from going cable-free.

We used tax act as well and it is FREE if you print and mail! It does take a bit longer to get the return.

Does Dave's site have more slide shows like this one? I looked around and couldn't find a link from the home page. For you 12% naysayers (which I am a fellow sayer)... what % return do you use when you plan for the future in investments in growth stock mutual funds? I generally use 8% which I figure...
