As I stated before, I am a borrower and there ain't no way my lenders will ever get even a one day late payment. That being said, I've also browsed the listings and found a very high percentage of stupid loan requests for people who have no business borrowing money for anything. Mainly folks who are...

Prosper is fascinating. It was love at first site for me. I've never been a lender, but am currently a borrower and I gotta tell you, this site is fantastic. I posted a loan request of $15,000 @ 25% interest and put my trust into the lenders. By the time my loan auction ended, my rate was 9.25% for ...

There is no reason to say that this growth will go on forever, if it stops completely, we will be using (or have to use) a new economic system. I'm certain the economy will not stop completely from growing (barring some wildly unforseen event(s)). The two fundamentals of inflation and population gr...

Rush, 401Ks do not artificially prop up the market. What happened to the market was a shift in its purpose. Stocks went from a dividend yield instrument for rich folks to a capital appreciation instrument for alot more folks. Did the shift occur at or near the same time the 401k plan was enacted? I...

PREFACE: I don't know the answer, but I am a market pessimist. . . I like to look at DJIA graphs and noticed that from about 1965 to 1985 the graph remains flat (and that's without adjusting for inflation). Another poster mentioned they have achieved a 16% return from 1985 to present. Looking at the...

The part about increasing the value of my house as its FMV goes up sounds a bit too much like counting your chickens before they're hatched, I probably won't bother with that part of it. That's the nerd in me coming out, it's definitely optional and is a pretty much worthless entry if you don't hav...

Let me start over - I went too fast for my own good. Assume a house worth $100,000 with a down payment of $10,000 #1 - Create an asset account for the value of the house, less the amount of your down payment, so HOUSE for $90,000 #2 - Write your down payment check for $10,000 and make it's category ...

I'm actually at a point where I'm planning to refuse a raise next year because as my hourly rate goes up (I work for a consulting firm) I get priced out the work I most enjoy doing. I am increasingly forced to delegate more of the writing work I enjoy and do editing and management instead, which I ...

If you have a fund available in your 401K and the same fund is available through your Roth IRA broker, all other things being equal, which route would you take? Just another scenario I've pondered. . .then I did the math. . .if, when you retire, you'll be in a higher tax bracket that you are now, th...

I guess I am more like Tripp. When I make a move, I make a big move. I apply for positions that are above my experience/skills and use my interview skillz. Since I would apply for a challenging position, odds are I wouldn't get it. But one out of 10 times means that I get a significant bump up in p...

Some spouses believe that working together would destroy their marriages. LOL, ain't that the truth :) In hindsight, I should have made up some fictional anecdotes, I was stupid, but I'll try not to do that again. It's not the semantics of that specific situation that I thought was interesting. Hec...
