It is common knowledge in personal finance that you should pay yourself first 10%-20%

My question is for this 10%-20% are you not supposed to touch it at all and only use it to invest? Or after saving 10%-20% for a while and you save enough to buy a car for example can you spend it???

So last month I finally took action and lived below my means. I think I ended up saving about $300. While saving the money my goal was to save for $1,000 emergency fund, which helped me stay on track. The problem I had was even though I saved all that money it left me deficient with other smaller th...

I attended a technical collage so I really dont have any experience with the 4 year variety. But doesn't college also offer classes in the "the arts". Why not go to the community college to get the basics out of the way... then enroll in an true college to get the skills and training to g...

I just wanted to add that I feel like the reason I got into this situation is because as you get older and meet people its like you start feeling bad and dig your goals/dreams/passion deep down to try to impress people. Like the older I get meeting people I would get shy about opening up what I real...

It seems pretty clear to me, college isn't a panacea, but it gives one options and choices they otherwise would not have. Your right a lot of people have a college degree and are still struggling to make money so I know its not a free pass to success. Like you say though its good to have options bu...

One more thing!!!

I have also always wanted to start my own business and work for myself. I think that is one of the MAJOR things that keeps me from wanting to go to college because I feel if I do i'm just going to be stuck working for someone else.

I like to feel free! Kinda like a hippy :)

If I were in your position, I would seek out financial aid so that I could go to school. Assuming you are not a dependent, you should be able to qualify for a Pell Grant. Pick a community college, spend the bare minimum of your grant on classes, buy books used. View your shitty job as a valuable as...

Hey everyone I am 23 years old and new to the forum. I used to read Getrichslowly.com around the time it first started but then I strayed away for a couple of years. In that time I was living more in the moment not really worrying about my future but now I'm finally waking up, ready to make some pos...
