I suggest to try Google Docs and make an excel file there. I find it efficient because it can be used easily. I list all my personal finance concerns there and didn't experience any hassle problems.

Try to use Mint, also. Used it for almost 2 months and find their services very satisfying.

I agree that there's nothing wrong with what you're doing. Living a stable life is enough, sir. Just think about what to spend and not to spend to help you budget your money. :)
