I had major surgery about 15 years ago and was on a payment plan as a result for some time. As an option, you may want to keep in the back of your mind, negotiating any large bills if you feel justified and your income cannot substantiate paying. My Surgeon did this, from what I remember, though the...

Feels great to have the taxes already mailed out (did have to wait on a 1099 misc)

Most of all, I feel more open to other opportunities coming my way. And this way they are starting to come - relieved of any "hidden burdens".

Sounds so basic, but this is important.

Couldn't you just seal the will, but still tell the person that you've appointed them to be trustee? They wouldn't know the actual allocations set out in the will, but they'd still know that upon your demise, it'd be up to them to open up the will and carry out your wishes. They'd have to know wher...

Is it possible to assign a trustee to a will, with the person not knowing it? So that nobody knows the terms/how the proceeds are allotted until when and if the time arrives? If not, how might this be done? No matter what I say, it seems, invariably it is revealed anyway to those around me. There is...

Let me put it this way. If you died, would they be in financial hardship as a result?
They would be much closer to it, depending on other unknown variables.

Such as, how fast the house could sell and a couple others.

They are late 70's and money is slowly running down.

They depend on me but not financially.

You're right, I do have a low net worth.

On and off over the past several years I've pondered the idea getting a life insurance policy. Mainly for the parents if I happen to go. And no, I'm not expecting anything Difficulty lies in the fact that I have not much of a regular income. As a 50+ male I see I can get a 250K policy for roughly $3...

Thanks Vintek,

Also came across this http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-02-05/what-to-do-right-now-if-you-re-one-of-the-80-million-anthem-members-who-got-hacked that mentions medical claims fraud as a result

The irregularity is of course the main issue. Would figure out a platform with a way to segment options/possible drop menu as defined by user type: I) Seasonal - including "on" and "off" seasons on a percentage basis? II) Freelance - (more hit or miss) III) Hourly - with possible...

Just learned that Anthem announced they were hacked. Credit cards are probably okay, but personal info like names and ss#s could be compromised. They claim they will notify those affected people, but I don't put too much stock in this. Since you cannot get health insurance without submitting your nu...

The best I can decipher from this is that whoever is handling the financial affairs is actually pissing away money that you, or someone you know/are related to, would stand to inherit when they passed away. In that situation I think you would have great difficulty having this person declared incomp...

Thank you for that detailed reply, partgypsy Are you fairly sure it is by (2) doctors - a single neurologist wouldn't do? The other monumental concern is driving the car, that he may seriously hurt someone and/or himself. He would be unable to recount the circumstance if it came right down to even a...

...What is the reason that you don't handle your own finances? If taking control of your own finances is not possible, for whatever reason, then you either must have the person in charge declared legally incapable of handling their own affairs or you live with the consequences of what they're doing...

The person who takes care of our personal finances; payments and general financial affairs, now has dementia. Believe this is going into 'stage two' if I'm not mistaken. Short of having the person declared incompetent, what can be done to make sure that financial disaster does not occur? The signs a...
