I haven't updated my progress in quite awhile but I am making progress on my debt. I now have only three debts: my house mortgage, a rental property mortgage, and a line of credit. My consumer debt has been reduced from $86433 to $23400. I have paid off $63033 in about 3.5 years. Altogether, I have ...

Goal 1: Debt reduction: $659/$16500 (4% of goal) Goal 2. Emergency fund: $455/$5000 (9% of goal) Goal 3. Investment portfolio by $650/$7000 (9% of goal) My debt reduction is lower since I flew to Idaho to visit my girlfriend for the weekend. Relationship fun trumped debt payments this month. I plan ...

Are there any other Canadians out there? I am looking at investing in my RRSP to meet my investment goal. With the tax refund, I can reach my emergency fund goal. I just don't know how beneficial the RRSP will be as I am likely moving to the USA within two years.

The coffee graph made me laugh. I could have a graph for several things. Since I started tracking my expenses by recording every expense, my graphs would show. Lot of improvement.

As far as the market, I only wish I had more money to buy stocks that are on sale.

Hi funspeedahead,

Thanks for the positive comments. I am happy to report that once I calculated the amount of interest I was paying, I fixed it and no longer pay much interest at all. The debt I owe is in 3.5% line of credit so it is minimal.

After reading a few other threads, I have decided to set a few goals for myself. So, by August 31, 2015, I plan to: 1. Reduce my debt by $16500 bringing it to a grand total of $17433. This requires a monthly payment of $1500 2. Build a $5000 emergency fund. To meet this goal, I will be saving $455 e...

I now owe $33933 in debt which means I have paid off $52500 in debt. I am very happy with the progress I have made. Reaching 50k in payments was quite a milestone. During this time, I have also managed to do several upgrades to my house. Essentially, I have renovated the entire main floor as well as...

I am closing in on owing less than $40000. I currently owe approximately $42500. By the end of October, I will be less than $40000 in debt. As of today, I have paid off over half of my consumer debt. It feels great but I have to admit it has been challenging lately to maintain my discipline and focu...

Well, I won't say that has been easy and I continue to have some struggles but I am nearly half way to being debt free. I now owe $47733. I am down to 4 loans that I am making payments on. Within the next few months, I should be down to a single loan. I would sure like to do a financial audit to see...

Lanthirel, I never took the time to add up all of my debts to see what I owed. Once I did, the number hit me hard. The wakeup call was definitely effective. Each month, I pay off $2500 in debt. If I were debt free, I could save for 4 months and go on a trip to Africa and that reality stings. At the ...

unplugged71, after cutting my interest costs, I see an additional $300/month remaining in my bank account. Initially, I was paying $2000/month and due to saving on interest, I have pushed my debt payments to $2500. Occasionally, I put in a bit extra if it means I break a barrier, say getting below $...
