I'm not sure if I will be staying there. It's possible in the next 5 years that I could change to a different home. To be brutally honest, $200 extra liquid funds a month would be extremely helpful to me right now. My job (I work at a community college) is stable but we have a series of pay increase...

Well, I heard back from the Chase rep. I get to be rid of PMI (small, I know, but still nice to drop.) Not willing to flex on their offered rates, and said that actual rates I might get from the other places could be as much as 1% higher, depending on my credit, loan size, value, etc. They also said...

I took everyone's advice and shopped around. I got information from two other local banks and a credit union. Bank 1: 30 year fixed: 3.625%, $2300 closing costs 20 year fixed: 3.5%, $2300 closing costs 15 year fixed: 2.75%, $2100 closing costs Bank 2: 30 year fixed: Same 15 year fixed: 2.625% Credit...

I do know I can shop around. It's just that if I go elsewhere, I expect to have to pay way more than $395 in closing costs/fees, have to get an appraisal, etc, and I don't have a lot of extra money for large closing costs.

Thank you in advance for any advice. I'm glad I can ask this here, as I want to learn from this experience. So, I have a house that I bought in 2008 with an original principal balance of 87750. I got a 30 year fixed rate at 6%. My current unpaid principal balance is 70870. My mortgage and escrow pay...

Hello all. Thank you in advance for any advice given. I purchased my first home in April 2008. Fixed rate 30 year mortgage, 6%, and put 10% down. Since then, I have always paid on time, and have also been paying extra money during some good times against the principal. I have no credit card or stude...
