Paid minimums on S.L. while I paid off car.. Car is PIF and S.L. is less than 3k will be paid off by April.

Thanks! I have an emergency fund of 2k in savings plus $1500 in cd's I just want to have about 5k in my savings, and I'm now ringing in at just under 12k on the SL's yay!

How many different loans do you have? My payments were almost 500 a month upon graduation.... If you are smart, you can make money off of using a credit card. Not much but you can! Cash rewards pay bill in total, every time, make money :) I guess maybe I should make myself a little clearer... Assuming it's a "no fees" CC and also the money stays in your bank longer so you earn mor...

Yes... I know that interest is accruing daily... The reason I said it was crookery because they make you jump through loops to try to pay down your loan ahead of time. And I am pretty sure that they don't require you to take exit counseling...

I haven't dealt with Sallie Mae but I have with nelnet... It sounds pretty similar... it is some major crookery and definitely frustrating! They have to apply the payment to interest and penalties first... yada yada yada it feels like they are trying to set up people for failure. :@
