If I wanted to be a slave to the internet when I am not at work, I would get one. But I like to be off the grid at night. I just think a phone is a phone is a phone. I just turned in my 5 years old dingy cell phone for one of those razrs cause I had service years to get it for free, and that my pre...

I think we're doing ornaments this year. I'd like to do a Texas-shaped cutout, with salt-dough, and then paint them, or something. Last year, I spent a bit too much money and we're trying to save this year, so... Also, honestly, I'm so tired of the hype around Christmas. It sucked to be away from my...

Hmmm... The Foreman grill. I use it...about every day, I'd guess, for everything from bacon (it stays flat, and the grease doesn't get all over the stove) to shrimp, and although the non-stick coating is starting to go, after two years of very heavy use, I think we've gotten our money's worth...

Kick it, SoldierGrrrl! We've got a ton of flower and veggie seeds sitting on the window ledge, newly sprouted. Today was warmish and sunny so I took 'em outside for a full dose of sunshine. Feels like spring, yes indeed! Thanks, Angie. I'm just amazed. I'd sprouted some sweetpeas, but I'm an airhea...

I'm semi-pro, mostly because I have a photojournalism job for the Army and honestly, it's probably going to depend on what type of photography you want to do. Portraiture is a pretty light-intensive gig, and sports requires some interesting lenses. I'm trying to start up my own photography business,...

Sounded like some people are interested in getting rid of books when I was reading the simplicity topic. I thought it might be worth having a new thread. ... What do you do to control your media collection? We buy more bookshelves. Seriously. My husband and I are loathe to give up books, and we ten...

My husband and I are planning on retiring on the seven and a quarter acres we just bought. We're looking at building our house next summer and then...that's it, hopefully. Don't get me wrong, thing can (and probably will) change due to the Army, but we've decided we like the Hill Country in Texas th...

 I planted some beans (Contender and Derby, both bush varieties) and some herbs for my husband's cooking. The seed packets all said "7-21" days to germination, but they LIE! I have three inch beans already! Needless to say, I'm heading down to the good old HD for potting soil and co...
