How about would I borrow another $30K today to invest in the stock market if I could get it @ 3%? I hope not. So the ans...

[quote="DoingHomework"][quote="ambition"] Thanks again DoingHomework. I guess I keep coming back to the fact that I am, at least at this point, simply looking to purchase life insurance for that sole, intended purpose. In addition, even once we begin to think about leaving someth...

Thanks DoingHomework - always helpful. I'm not worried about the estate stuff at this point (although the below obviously feeds into it). I can always evaluate as things change. We will, however, be in the high earning category soon (in the $500K range). I guess I'm just a bit confused as to how it...

Whole life insurance would be used for estate planning in a situation where selling a portion of the assets would be difficult or impossible. The stereotypical example is a family business. A home would be similar. If your hypothetical estate would be more along the lines of stocks, bonds, etc. the...

[quote="RayinPenn"]Any insurance that has a savings componant is almost universally a bad investment. The old saying "buy term and save the rest" has a strong basis. With a Permanant policy if you die the insurance company will pay the benficiary the face value of the policy. the...

Hello- I know this topic has been brought up a couple of times, but I wanted to get some feedback from you all for my specific case. I currently have term life insurance through my employer but have decided it is time to shop around and get an independent 20 year term policy that is not tied to my e...

I agree some minimal level of income is necessary.. But in the end it is not how much you make it is how much you hold on to... True, but how much you can hold on to is directly related to how much you bring in. And the more you bring in, the more you can hold on to while also not worrying about so...

Make a lot of money.

Which freedom and/or right do you believe is being impinged? Well, life, for one. So the presence of a gun deprives you of life? Does the presence of a knife do the same? How about the presence of a heavy club, or a car? Those are ridiculous comparisons. I realize my view is a bit extreme. If I had...

One of my biggest problems with guns in public places overall is that I believe they impinge on my freedom and rights. I don't want guns around me, period. I don't care if you're a criminal or a law-abiding citizen. Which freedom and/or right do you believe is being impinged? Well, life, for one.

N2, you need to stop going to those meetings...or change your choice or reading material. Last I checked neither Vintek or I want to take you guns away. We probably lean to your side. But you, the NRA, and other groups are not scoring any points with the radical talk. If anything you are beginning ...

Time to gear up... the state of NY has fired the first shot :@ ALBANY, N.Y. — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a package of tougher gun measures Tuesday, soon after the state Assembly voted to bolster the state's ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. The Democrat-dominated Assembly p...
