Hello! Love to talk about $ LOL

Postby bel » Fri Sep 03, 2010 1:25 pm

Well, I'm here because I love to discuss finances. It's just a tough thing to discuss with anybody in real life.

Current focus is to build wealth. I'm excited to hit the $1M figure in a few years. I'm confident we'll get there in less than 5 yrs... although my husband thinks I'm dreaming. LOL. But I don't think it's a dream. :D

Hahahaha! That easy, isn't it?
Don't you consider it a pain nót to spend every penny that you earn? For that's mý main problem...

No, not a pain at all. I actually enjoy saving and watching it grow. :)

At some point in the past, I was spending everything I earned. But that was because I was not making much at all, ~$600 per month. Aahhh! Those were the days. :D

Wow, I really envy you. I make quite a decent living, but somehow the month is always longer than my salary. I try to save a bit every month, but am always thinking of purchases (small ones, big ones) that 'need' to be done as soon as that saving threshold is reached...
yeah, I am really a very bad saver. Any tips or tricks to start enjoying the saving more than the spending?

Sometimes it is impossible to save because of bills. If you don't have too much mortgage base on income, or too much car loan, student loan, etc, then saving is possible.

How have we been saving? Auto draft! Everything is deducted from paychecks. What we see in our checking account is the amount after all the savings. :)

Ow! I believe there is no hope for me. We have been doing that, but as soon as the realisation arises that we have a saving account with actual money on it, we (ok, I) start thinking what to do with it. Car, wintersports, paint the house, computerparts...

So, we actually are saving, but spend it just as easy... think that is something to address, huh?

You have a discipline problem, not a money problem.

Definately, but isn't that where it all starts? Learn how to appreciate the saving more than the spending?
I think that might very well be my challenge. Along with very many people around me, I got used to spending every earned penny instead of saving quite a few of it...

I think that this is achieveable but if you have any outstanding debt then you need to make sure that you manage it carefully.
