OK, still a problem with getting kicked off randomly.

This has been going on for nearly a month. The disincentive to even visit the forums to try and read/comment is getting higher....

I find myself looking for other sites instead, since logging on is now such a consistent PITA - which is awful, since it's been one of my favorites for nearly 2 years....

Note that Peachy says the same thing is happening to her, in the Fiscal Fitness Journal forum, with Fantasma's thread....

Any updates?

Sandi

I find that if I copy my response before I submit it (in case I lose it), my response success rate has been 100%. If I quickly respond to someone, and submit, never fail, I have to sign in again.

If I have time, I may, but usually I don't respond. It is unfortunate. I wish I knew how to solve the problem. I am glad it's not my computer or something that's happening just to me.

It is definitely a forum bug that has been reported to the guys who redesigned this forum. Neither I or Jethro can do much except stay in touch with them.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but here goes: I sent a message about doing a guest post a few days ago and haven't received a reply yet. How long can I expect to wait before I receive a reply?
-- Thanks

When was the last time this forum updated the anti-spam capabilities? The daily kitchen remodeling posts alone justify the effort.

It's been awhile. We see the Admins very rarely these days.

What is up with these hideous blue user names? They are awful to look at. I'm glad they go back to "normal' once you are viewing a thread.

I suspect that they're folks who either have low post counts or whose accounts aren't very old. Probably makes it easier for the mods to spot spammers.

Actually, I have no idea. I never saw them before reading this thread and looking for one. How long has this been going on?

That would make sense. Is this a new feature? I joined only a month ago and didn't see it until the last few days.

Just go into the Personal Finance forum...plenty to see there.

I noticed it a few days ago, maybe around Monday or Tuesday? I made the same assumption as stated above - that it indicated new users. But I really don't know.

I suspect it's a side-effect of some extra validation JerichoHill enabled earlier this week at my request. Here's his own words:

JerichoHill wrote:I can find any way of rejecting posts with keywords. We do have the ability to require activation by a moderator, I've turned that for right now to see how it is, and if its a burden.

I haven't been asked to "activate" any new accounts though, and it doesn't seem to be stemming the tide of Kitchen spam. I guess the blue names just identify new users.

I haven't gotten any requests to "activate" any new members either.
