Hey there,
Just came across the blog today, and already have gotten some very good advice!
I would like to ask it there are any previous topics dealing with the unique situations that people in wait staff positions experience.
I have been waiting tables for several years, and my monthly income is variable at best. Along with that is the difficulty of a lack of health insurance and 401k options.
How does one manage money at the rate of $2.13 per hour plus tips?
What I am doing now is estimating monthly bills and dividing that by shifts per month,
for example-if the total of basic (non food) bills comes to 600 and I work 4 shifts a week for 4 weeks, then I should set aside about 40 bucks aside from each shift.
This works ok, but when I graduate college a year from now, I will also have to factor in student loan payments etc. Plus I plan on graduate school.
Also, I am not getting any younger, and would like to look into health ins and an IRA, and also purchase a home sometime in the not so far future.
Any relevant advice is much appreciated!
