Starting to think about my next car. I have a 2003 VW New Beetle and it's starting to have some transmission issues. I've been saving for a new (used) car but think I'll need to get one sooner rather than later.

I do like VWs a lot and am reading some good things about the 2008 Rabbit. Just curious if anyone owns one and can give a review?

Hi there. I have a 2006 Rabbit. My SO and I bought it used from the original owner.

I really love it. We tend to use the trunk to haul landscaping stuff, tools for rehabbing our house, millwork, and that kind of thing. So for us, it's the perfect mix of luxury and workhorse. (You might say "party in the front, business in the back.")

The gas mileage is lower than our last car (a '98 Civic hatchback), but the horsepower is great. We're only at 30k miles, but so far we've had no mechanical trouble.

My inlaws insist that it has more legroom in the backseat than their SUV! The sound system it came with is really good, IMO.

It's super comfortable for long trips. I used to get car sick if I tried to read in our Honda, but now I can read for hours with no problem.

If I could only drive one car for the rest of my life, I'd be pretty damn happy for it to be this one.
