I started one in class one day when I was bored at the age of 16 and have kept it every since posting sometimes for two or three days and then skipping for a while. Every time something happens such a Presidential election or death of someone or anything [maybe my old high school winning a game] or maybe when my kids were born or married I post . Once skipped a year or so and then started again . I even posted when we landed on the moon . It is getting rather thick after all these years.

When I was a kid I kept a sort of diary of my nature observations, and also kept sketchbooks of the same. Friends of mine convinced me to scan them and put them up on the web a few years back:

Nowadays many people use blogs for this purpose, of course ;-)

I find it interesting that you say you "post" to your diary -- that's a term usually used for blogging but now we've come full circle and we "post" to our diaries. It reminds me back in the 80s when we'd say the computer is "down" or the photocopier is "down" -- one day one of my colleagues didn't show up for work and I asked if anyone had heard from her; one of our co-workers replied "oh, she's down today."

I've kept an online journal since 2003. My friends read and comment on it. I find reflection helps keep me on track. One of my goals is to write in it at least every other day (on average); when I stop, I find I do less well.

Free advice for managers: Do not bully someone who keeps a journal. :)

I keep a journal always with me everyday to keep track of my very busy life. I write to it every single day before I go to sleep.
