I've been on a bit of financial journey, starting from being broke and in debt to saving money, living money-smart, and recently started investing. Naturally, I read a lot about money, investing, personal finances, etc. And for some reason lately I felt the need to share things with other people through talking to them about making smart financial decisions, investing, and looking ahead in life.

Do you think I should start blogging? I see quite a bit of personal blogs online on the same subject, I know some GRS'ers have personal blogs around money - some are extremely detailed with postings of personal net worth progress and stock analysis.

If I do start a personal finance blog, what attributes I must hit to make it successful and keep it interesting? What would make me stand out? What do other PF blogs fail to achieve?

People blog for many different reasons. What would your reason be? Self-accountability? An altruistic desire to share what you've learned? An intention to build it up big enough to generate some extra cash? Or even to build a big enough revenue stream that you could quit your full-time job? Would it be a tie-in to promote books you may write? I think you need to decide why you'd be blogging before you decide whether or not you should.

That said, blogs come and go. Many of my favorite bloggers have hung up their keyboards recently and just stopped. Either because the reason they started is no longer valid, or they never really had a good reason to begin with.

As far as WHY goes, I think it's mostly:
- Keeping myself focused on my goals and by sharing them I'd like to achieve that public accountability and support if needed.
- My desire to share my success and wishing to inspire others.

Has nothing to do with monetary reason, really.
