I thought I read somewhere that the ability to convert to a Roth IRA is going away (i.e. law expires) after 2012. I can't remember where I read that, and I can't seem to find it anywhere else.

Did I just imagine it, or is it actually expiring?

The law authorizing conversions for higher income taxpayers was TIPRA 2005. A smart lawyer like you can probably find more details about whether that provision expires.

As near as I can tell there are a few provisions of TIPRA that expire but the Roth conversion eligibility changes are not among them.

Thanks DH. I did finally go through the act. I hate doing that with Fed laws as they are written so poorly, and tax laws especially usually contain a plethora of cross references which cause you to look at 20 different sections plus Treasury Department regs (which are a PITA to search unless you know exactly what you are looking for) just to know what 1 section says.

I didn't see anything about the ability to convert expiring, so I am going to assume I imagined it or wherever I read it was wrong.
