It also helps keep mice away. :-) Some peppermint oil, dabbed on cotton balls and thrown in mouse-paths and they run for the hills.

Combining the above research, I conclude that peppermint oil will keep mice away from your IB.

Works great to drive moles away in your yard, just dig down into the little critters tunnel and as pf101 says it will drive them away, I have tried just about everything and this works best

Where do you get peppermint oil? Health food store? Grocery store? I ask because, well, I've had similar trouble in the past...

most health food stores. maybe a grocery like whole foods but probably not freddies. make sure you get the oil, not just an extract.

I'm glad to hear someone else has had good results from peppermint oil!

I'm late to this thread, but when I was living in the UK, I was able to get peppermint oil in enteric coated caplets. That is, the caplets survive the acids in the stomach, and dissolve lower down in the digestive track in your intestines. The doctors on the National Health Service loved to prescribe slightly alternative medicine, but, boy did it do wonders for me.

I have that on my list of things to ask my doctor about next time I'm in his office.
