Hi I don't think I've introduced myself anywhere so i'll just give the basics

The only debt i have is what seemed like a massive student loan. its about 24,000 right now it started out as 42,000 but the government forgave 10,000 [based on my need and completing my program]. Based on my last two tax returns i lived below the poverty line according to the canadian government. [Although this year i think i made enough to be considered above the line.]

The reason I make so little is because I never found a job in my field, so i've worked retail. However this month i got a job at the public school system. Its a temp. position so its a big risk for me, but one I'm willing to take. [Its considered a temp position because I'm not guaranteed any hours.] I figure I'll know by January [once winter break is over] if it was worth the risk.

Changing jobs has made me very happy i have an emergency fund. I'm still hoping that i won't need to take much from it as I dream of using it one day to buy a house. besides that money was hard to save and for some reason i don't want to see it go to living expenses.

I switched banks to take advantage of a high yield savings account, then i found out that i needed a minimum balance. I should have just gotten up and left the table but in my timid style i still went with that bank.

So now I have set up an ING account. I like that there are no minimum balances and I'm going to see if i can do that multiple savings account thing. Anyways I'm not an online banker, so this is a big step for me in the scary world of internet. But I'm glad that my money is going to go somewhere that will save up a little bit of interest.
