Today I sent out a payment for the balance of my Zales account. I spent... well $6700 on an engagement ring for my fiance back in september and have just paid it off in 3 months. I was motivated to pay that first, despite the 0% apr, because I didn't want her to see it when we started going over finances and whatnot. We'll be getting married in 6 months.

Good for you! Now can you pay off another 13400 before you get married? That will be a challenge.

Keep up the good work. :)

Yes, that's what I meant. You have to think about the small wins. It's easier that way.

Well maybe I'll get lucky. My raise can be split between an instant bonus or added to my salary, its not my choice though, and I don't know where its going yet. But there's a possibility of a bonus, an extra paycheck in March, and then possibly a tax return.

No offense, but with that kind of debt, you really have no business buying a $6,700 shiny rock. You should go talk with your fiance about the financial situation, return the ring, and get her a beautiful $1,500 ring. In fact, I happen to have friend who sells discount diamond engagement rings online:

Gee, digging up 1+ year old threads to post a link. Can't possibly be spam.
