Small Success

Postby JerichoHill » Tue Oct 23, 2007 12:22 pm

Today, I put $1,000 down as our first prepayment on our mortgage for our home. I still need to square alot of financial stuff away, but at least this is going, and now automatic.

This means that we're now almost paying 2 mortgage payments a month. Except that the almost payment is entirely principal

Congrats! I wouldn't call it a small success either. An extra $1,000 per month is not something many people can do. Great job!

I would love to be able to add $1000 onto my mortgage. Maybe once I pay off my car loan and student loan, I will be able to go that.

Congratulations! We did this with our first home and shaved off 10% of the mortgage within 2 years. At our new place, we've been putting the money into renovations, although this should have a similar effect. Now that we're done the renovations, I'm looking forward to paying down the mortgage again.

We just put $8xx as our first prepayment this week. We had some extra income (commission) and it fell to the bottom line. We hope to be able to do that regularly!
