Hi to whoever is reading this, I have always been researching way to work from home since i already work a full time 40-60 hour a week job, but now that my hours are cut i'm only working 4 days a week and that isn't enough to cover my cost of living. I've tried everything from surveys to dropshipping and none of it make a substantial amount of money. If there was a way that I could start making enough money working from home to even leave this job and go back to school. I'm not sure if I'm asking this is the correct section - so I'm sorry ahead of time.

Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Tommy :)

Is there a name for posts intended to get a SPAM response? I suppose they're just called "shills."

I see I wasn't the only one getting a spam vibe from this one... I've got my eye on it...

I almost deleted it, but since there was no overt spam (yet), even in the poster's profile, I figured we should wait.

Sorry ahead of time - I don't mean for this to be spam, i'm just wondering how other people's "work from home" business is going, how they got there, etc. etc.

I, too, am waiting for some spam though. "Hey if you do a 6 surveys at blankblankblank dot com - you'll make $1650". At that point I would delete this thread myself lol.

There's not going to be a magic "work from home" business which you can make substantial income and do without significant work on your part. Any one who claims that you can make tons of money at home in your spare time is at best hopelessly optimistic to the point of delusion, or trying to scam you. If there someone really did know of a business that earned them that much money with little work, why would they tell you about it? They'd keep it a secret rather than invite others to compete with them.

Anything legitimate will be like any other business, it will require a lot of time and effort on your part to make it work. You have to find something you can do that provides some sort of value or service to people who are willing to pay for it.

I work from home full time. I started in an office in San Antonio, TX working as a travel agent. After working there for 4 years, a work from home opportunity came available. I now live in Chicago but am based in San Antonio. I have been working from home for about 3 1/2 years and make about 38K. At first I was working crappy hours and on weekends and holidays. But about a year or so ago I was able to xfer departments and now I work m-f. 9a-5p with paid holidays off. Working from home is not all it's cracked up to be. For one, I do not make my own hours. I have a schedule. And it can be pretty lonely, too. Also there is not a lot of room for advancement because most of the opportunities are inhouse in San Antonio.

Do you have a skill-set you can utilize? If not, any random job that anyone can do will likely not make you any "real" money.

Can you do software development? PC Repair? Accounting? General business consulting? Can you make a product of somekind you can sell? Do you have a service you can provide?

Personalize it. Do what YOU know.

There many legitimate work-from-home businesses that a person can do. The biggest problem is finding one that is legitimate. You could start checking out the Direct Sellers Association where many businesses are located.

It is so hard to find a work from home job. I've also done the surveys and looked into dropp shipping. As of right now, I play around with some affiliate marketing but am not all that successful....

If we could only get paid what we are worth from our employes...

I get paid exactly what I'm worth to my employer. I wish I were worth more.

And who determines what an employee is worth? The employer, the employee or the market?

I think you are probably asking rhetorically, but if not, the market.

If you have the right skills, you could look into becoming a virtual assistant.
