The rule of 72 is a trick you can use to see how long it will take to double your intial investment. A post about the basics of the rule of 72 is here: LINK REMOVED

Have you used the rule of 72 in your investing? It's a neat trick but I question if it's actually practical to use?

Why don't you tell us about it here rather than linking out for no good reason?

I'll explain for the OP. You simply divide 72 by the interest rate of your investment (or debt, etc). So if you have an investment paying 10% a year, you money would double every 7.2 years.

72/10= 7.2

Put's things into prospective when thinking if a 1% CD is a good idea= 72 years to double

Of course everyone has different levels of risk and different needs with their money.
