I met one of the goals, failed on two others. However, failing on the financial goal and the exercise goal were both directly attributable to being hit by a car. At least with the financial stuff, I didn't go backwards -- I just didn't move forwards as much as I'd hoped. The exercise, well, when your goal is "exercise regularly," it's hard to meet the goal when you're not supposed to even walk much.

Don't have a link, but I was reading a blurb in a magazine about the importance of making mutually supportive goals. Basically, a study showed that people who make, say, 3 mutually supportive goals (eg, to stick to a budget, build an EF, and eat out less often) were more likely to reach ALL 3 GOALS than other were to reach 1 goal in a vacuum (like, "stick to a budget").

It's totally intuitive, but that knowledge could help you frame your goals.

I read JD's post today about how some people believed his goals were weak. Frankly, if you take on a small amount of change, (I think) you are more likely to be successful.

My goals were simple in 07. Combine finances with my husband and begin to track expenses with MS Money. Stop drinking soda (even diet soda). Run with more consistency - at least 15 miles per week.

Three small simple goals. I achieved them all. I'm hoping this year to save 3k per month via automatic deductions and to max out 401ks, give up french fries, and take a multivitamin every day. Small changes really do make a big difference.

I agree. Incremental change is a lot easier to manage than huge step changes.

I think I met all of my goals for 2007! Yay for me!

1) I got to fight in a mixed martial arts match
2) I moved out of Oregon, quit my job, and worked in a garden
3) Reconnected with family
4) Saved a TON of money. (the downside is that I also *spent* all that money because I quit my job!)
