Spending:

Lunch- frozen pesto tortellini bowl from Trader Joe's. $2.99 and delicious.

Shopped At lunch. Damage below:
$52.04- TJ Maxx. New bathroom towels, soap holder, and porch lantern. All discretionary, yet somehow made me feel very good upon arriving home. No guilt
$8.57- Target. Herbal tea, Glad plastic containers, raw almonds. Tea and almonds for desk at work. Prevent feeding the evil corporate vending machine, or chick-fil-a in cafeteria. Plastic containers for bringing leftovers for lunch. Resisted urge to buy cute yellow trench.

Gym membership- un-utilized due to rain.

Dinner- leftovers of dirty rice, mashed potatoes, and green peas. Homemade sweet tea. Three (sob) cookies and a glass of milk.

Today was gray and rainy...usually a recipe for fiscal disaster. But Hooray! No spending today! (amend- I bought my brother birthday presents- 1 Miles Davis CD $14.32 and 1 used book $12.47)

Took coffee to work. Slightly burnt beans masked by Hazelnut coffeemate

Counseled friend on tax returns. Turns out if you were a dependent last year and didn't get your stimulus check, you can get it this year. PLUS Republicans want to increase the Housing Tax Refund ( currently 7500) to $15,000! Bad for economy, good for me!

Lunch- Leftover mashed potatoes, green peas, and dirty rice. Still delicious

Dinner- more of same

Drove by favorite furniture today on way home, but didn't go in. Would like to attribute to my enormous self control, but in actuality was rain and cold which kept me ( and my wallet) safely in my car

TOTAL DAILY SPEND: $26.79

Breakfast: Work up late this morning. Set alarm half an hour earlier with intention of actually getting to office on time. Result: missed alarm, didn't wake until 8 am. Late again.

No time to pack lunch, but did make coffee. Resisted urge for quickie Starbucks ( ok actually Starbucks not really quick as Atlanta seems to have deficit of drive thru Starbucks. But does perk up the morning a bit)

Broke down and bought Chicken biscuit at work cafeteria this morning. Very delish and very bad. $2.30

Lunch: McDonalds. Bad bad bad. Fries, Burger, and Cola. $3.89. Not even tasty

Was responsible and went to get emissions test for car. $20

Was irresponsible and went to Restoration Hardware. Luckily, too poor to afford anything. $0

Dinner: Leftovers. Again. This is getting old ( literally). Did make a piece of Tilapia ( 1 box with 30 fillets- $15 at Walmart! Great value, individually wrapped, cooks in Foreman in 7 minutes, frozen)

Can't stop contemplating new furniture. Perhaps will go thrifting this weekend.

TOTAL DAILY SPEND: $26.19

Breakfast: Actually woke up on time today. Well, almost. Got to office half hour earlier than usual, hooray! Of course, no one there to notice improvement in punctuality. Made coffee and packed leftovers for lunch.

Wore very cute thrift store skirt to work today, only to realize later that is was PARTIALLY SEE-THROUGH! Vow to never buy thrift again.

Lunch: Leftover dirty rice. Finally gone- woot! ( What will I eat now???) Went shopping ( again- what can I do to break this vicious habit?) at Home Depot Expot. Seriously considered spending $3000 on cabinet display. Realized am not millionaire, and promptly exited empty handed. Bought coffee at McDonald's to balm soul- $3.27

Dinner: undetermined. Probably leftovers. Failed at convincing roommate to go out to eat. Probably for the best.

QUESTION: What do you do to distract yourself from shopping?

You should pick up another hobby like reading, or playing games on the computer, or just think about your gas savings by not going out of your way to the stores.

I go to work, then I have other activities planned for the evenings, so I don't even get a chance to go to the store if I wanted to. It's actually verging on ridiculous, but I don't need anything that I don't have already (except food).

You could get a slip to wear under your skirt instead of vowing never to shop at a thrift store again. That's a silly statement. :)

Breakfast- Leftover quiche from Saturday brunch. Substantially more filling than usual oatmeal. Green tea.

Warm today, happily did not wear a coat out the door this morning, and managed to leave by 8. Hooray for timeliness.

Lunch- Brought leftover homemade spaghetti alla carbonara ( heavenly- suggest you try it if you haven't) with good intentions. However, was way-laid by co-worker. Wound up at neighborhood hibachi. Was very tasty, and within monthly restaurant budget ( $100). Lunch- $12.38 ( including tip)

Dinner- Tilapia and salad. For some reason, wasn't in mood for leftover pasta. Perhaps was fact that I actually used expensive gym membership ( $55) today and felt inclined to something healthier.

TOTAL DAILY SPEND- $12.38
