So, in September, I had a goal of increasing my savings discipline.
Sam offered to send me an ING account code, to get me set up, and a free $25. I accepted her encouragement, and set it all up.
Now, six months later, I have $5226 in the savings account with ING. Another $3K in the credit union locally. I started with ~ $1K.
In six months, I've gained more than $7K, simply by moving my money into a separate holding account, and keeping it at the forefront of my attention span.
Tonight, I set up a separate account for our joint savings. We have enough funds to set aside more than 8 months of expenses, so I want to get that away from easy access. Once the linkage is established, that 8 months of funds will go to ING.
