Nice article. I grew up rather poor by American standards (frequently evicted, often without electricity or hot water or heat or a telephone. Many nights without dinner). I now live in an upscale neighborhood with people whose only sacrifices have been while camping. It's funny listening to people who've never had to do without anything complain about Gov't programs for the poor. Like the ones that kept me fed when I was child. Or enabled us to heat our home during the coldest winter months. Having never benefited from these programs, they see little utility in them.
